Open Invitation

I as yet have no New Year's Eve plans. Anybody want to solve that problem for me?

So Get This

So last night, I'm playing Simcity 3000, la di da di da, and all of the sudden the screen goes blank. So I reboot the machine. Nothing happens. No display, no POST beep. The diagnostic lights on the back of the machine indicate a memory problem.

So I call Dell today, and ask how I can get the memory replaced. First the guy asks me to try the memory in each of the slots (gone are the days of "warranty void if opened"). We determine that all of the memory cards work in Slot 1 of Channel A, but elsewhere is spotty. Thus, the motherboard is faulty. But the guy orders a new one and a technician is coming out next week to install it.

Anyway, after I got off the phone, I tried different configurations. It turns out that if I use Slots 0 and 1 of Channel A (instead of Slot 0 of Channels A and B), it works fine. So here I am, working on my Dell, which is for the moment working (knock on wood).

There was probably a point to this story, but I don't know what it was.

Weird

A few days ago, I took down the Maverick site. However, today I searched Google for "Germany should have won that war," and lo and behold, there was actually another hit. THe person was referring to WWI, however.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I overslept and missed the ITAB meeting. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr.

Actually, I didn't oversleep. I woke up 5 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off. But then I fell asleep again.

Anyway, I have a final at 7 tonight and one at 8 tomorrow morning.

Also, I just found out the Microsoft scholarship app requires a letter of recommendation. Who could I ask? Though you know, I don't think it really matters, since I don't think they'd award it to me after a whole semester.

Reason #12531853 Why I Love Google

The Answer to Physics Homework Problems.

Well, today was officially the last day of instruction. Just a few finals, and then I'm outta here. Beauty.

The Beginning of the End

Well, finals time is nearly here. I've decided to grow a beard for finals, to give others the impression that I'm studying so hard for finals that I don't have time for trivial things like personal hygiene. I'd stop combing my hair, too, but that would require that I had combed it previously.

Still no check card from National Stupidity Bank. I plan to redesign the SamAMac site at some point.

Did the ICES forms today in Calculus. I volunteered to collect them, so now at least I can claim that my professor knows my name. Or at least he did for two seconds. Anyway...

Did laundry today. Mondays are slow, Tuesdays suck.

Econ test Thursday. I really ought to study or something, but I'm pretty sure the marginal utility of additional study would outweigh the marginal cost.

Everybody has essays and projects and crap this week. Me? Nothing. I love AP.

Oh yeah, here's my Christmas list, for those who have been asking:

Maybe I'll add stuff later. Ciao!
