Mr. Zaucha has tenure.
The Board of Education just appointed some dude to fill the position vacated by somebody who resigned.
All this while they're cutting AP Stats, Calc BC and Bio among others and making a stink about our web site.
Stupid Board of Education.
Hey, I'm off to Seattle. Actually, something funny happened today, but I don't have time to blog about it. I have to get to sleep so I can fly out tomorrow. I'll try to blog it tomorrow.
Oh, and apparently Greg Schuh is a member of the UI Circle K, Mary.
Yay for Spring Break.
Spent the weekend at convention. Got there late; confusion ensued. All the people we voted for won. Didn't get Single Service for Battle of the Bands. Mary is hereby writing all Single Service Reports for the rest of time. Realized at forums that our school really sucks. I mean really, totally sucks. Left my jacket at the hotel (Pheasant Run, heh heh heh), but Mary and Kyle retrieved it (thanks so much!).
I realized tonight that the last few weeks have just been a string of failures. No MIT, no Olin, no Single Service Award...this sucks.
Got our nice new hard Key Club member cards on Thursday. Nice.
Jen apparently still hasn't realized that her comments don't work. I was going to be nice and pay for the subscription, but then I found out that it would cost like 25 bucks, and I realized that I'm not THAT nice.
So here I am, trying to work on the Key Club site, tossing out all of the college crap I've kept since last year, and not really wanting to go to Seattle on Tuesday.
Ten years ago I: (94)
was in third grade
had a girlfriend named Lisa
watched "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" on occasion
didn't wear glasses
liked country music
Seven years ago I: (97)
wrote a report on the Bermuda Triangle entitled, "The Bermuda Triangle: Alien Spaceport or Natural Phenomenon?"
was especially proud of myself for knowing how to spell "phenomenon"
had a deep desire to not be beat up and picked on by the popular crowd
had a crush on a girl named Bhavna
played the violin
Five years ago I: (99)
was finishing seventh grade
got a blue ribbon in the science fair for my electrolysis project
had Miss Hayes for English
got my first D on an English paper because talk like Yoda I did not
really hated junior high
Three years ago I: (01)
was a freshman and then a sophomore
was on scholastic bowl, and Mrs. Pyrz was a pain
took a sleeping class (Driver's Ed)
hadn't yet solidified my friendships with the people I still know and love
decided to take AP European History, never guessing how much fun that would be
Two years ago I: (02)
was a sophomore then a junior
went to see a musical (Pirates of Penzance)
went to VICA and took 4th in Computer Maintenance
still on the scholastic bowl team, but Mrs. Pyrz retired and Mrs. Joyce became the coach
was voted Secretary of Key Club
One year ago I:
was a junior
spent the year making work for myself
started getting all anal-retentive about everything (ok, kept getting)
had no friends at college
Wore a blue suit coat when I ran for I-I Secretary and lost
Yesterday, I: (as in Saturday)
Spent all day running around at convention
got really tired and bummed out at the Key Club dance
took lots of pictures because we don't have any
played with the digital camera
talked to Peter Geng at the dance about how Key Club can really suck sometimes
Today, I:
got home from convention
went to church
got really depressed about my college situation (I'm applying to University of Houston because of their National Merit scholarship)
discovered a penchant for self-pity I never knew I had
had a kind of breakdown over Key Club
Tomorrow, I:
will go to math team
will try to meet with the technology person at school about the website
do computer stuff
pack
eat food at some point
Things I do every day:
waste time
check my email
eat
sleep
plan out what Denise will do next year, because I have declared myself Dictator-for-Life of Key Club
Results...: "You're 'Thomas the Alien'. You like
hitting things with bats. Weirdo. Why don't you
go back where you're from?
Which Member of Teen Girl Squad are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
OK, so here's another rotten story:
Ms. Engel called me today and told me that the administration had finally found out about the website. They want us to bring it "in-school" for (what else?) liability reasons. Well, that's just great. Now our site will suck just like everything else in that school. I'm supposed to meet with the tech person tomorrow to talk about this.
So what I did is dismantle the Key Club site (I cancelled the SurfXpress
account; I'd been looking for a reason, and now I've got it) and I disabled
the NHS site too. My hope is that Mr. Zaucha will 1) notice, 2) ask why, and
3) wage my battle for me, since he claims to have connections (and seems to be
able to get away with anything). My sister thinks it's a good plan. I should
so be a politician or something.

Don't worry, I still don't like NHS. I'll have some fun with them.
Meanwhile, I found this rather amusing.
Whew, it's over!
We lost in the first round at regionals. That sucks.
MIT mailed decision letters today. Oh, the suspense!
Might go the WB vs. DGS basketball game tonight.
And in other news, I'm a traitor to my own cause.
OK, so I haven't blogged for a while. Let's start with Candidate's Weekend.
Candidate's Weekend was great. Most of the first day they just tried to force 75 socially inept people to mingle. Then on the second day, we had the group activity. We had to build a tower out of styrofoam. It had to support a 2-liter bottle of water above two meters and be as tall as possible. Ours wasn't the tallest, but it was the one that everybody was like, "Why doesn't that thing fall over?" Then we had individual and group interviews, which went fine. After everything, we went to see the Franklin W. Olin Players put on "Tiger at the Gates," a French play that takes place in the city of Troy. It pretty much showed that engineers can't act, but it was all right.
My mother, however, annoyed the heck out of me the whole weekend. She kept complaining about the rental car, saying that she didn't like the "big doors." Well, yes, mother, big doors are what you get when you rent a coupe because it's the cheapest. I am never going anywhere with her again.
Last week was mayhem. I can't remember if I came home on time a single day. On Friday I had scholastic bowl practice (regionals are tomorrow), and then I went to help set up for Turnabout for NHS hours. It was a lot of fun. Also, the stuff from Bank One about my new business checking account came.
So now I'm working on the Annual Club Achievement Report and the Single
Service Report (somehow I ended up doing them all myself), and trying to do
homework. Yay.
