Blogger appears to have suffered some kind of seizure. Looks like it's over it now.
I've created a blog for my messages on the Key Club site. I'll offer to set some up for the other officers. I'm also thinking of creating a "Club News" blog and putting everybody on it.
I'm still debating what to do with Black Sheep Airlines.
Silly Democrats. Always complaining. Like when the Pentagon wants to set up a futures market for terrorist attacks.
Well, I've been up for several hours (I got up to see Dave Barry on Today) and
I've accomplished a lot. No I haven't. I don't know that I've accomplished
anything. But that's what summer's for, right? Right?
Well, today went alright. Kyle came over again to mess with his computer. Then
we went to work the last Kiwanis Concert. It was good. Dale showed up and gave
me a ride on his motorcycle. It was great. Anyway, now I'm sitting down here,
and I read on Dave Barry's blog that he'll be on the Today show, so I'm
thinking of getting up early. The only problem with getting up early is that
I'd feel guilty about not getting up early every day. If there was somewhere I
had to go, that would be different, but I don't have to go anywhere. Sigh...
And I can't remember my CORES password (FCC licensing), and it's driving me
nuts. Anyway, Kyle was wondering why he wasn't a committee chair, since he
asked me on my first day as president, and I didn't know what to tell him. I
made him a deal that if Caroline and Emily don't accept, I would make him
Membership chair, but that's not good enough, apparently. Sigh... We have a
board meeting on Monday and the Positive Party is Thursday. I'm going nuts.
I'd better get moving if I want to accomplish something before I go to bed
early.
Archeology will never be the same.
Today had sucked until I went to Dave Barry's Blog and read about the
Freemont Project, as well as saw this.
I just realized that today (July 28) is my half-birthday. Yay, just 6 more
months to go. Maybe I should celebrate by submitting my SSS registration or
something.
Sigh...my network connection just came up a little while ago, and I was
alerted that I had email. I knew even before I opened Outlook Express that it
was just more spam on the I-I District reflector. I sent mail to the tech
chair and administrator addresses at iidistrict.org, but nothing has been done
about it. I really ought to ask my new friend Peter, since he's the one still
listed as the owner. Nobody seems to care though. Especially our beloved new
tech chair (Peter and I are united in our dislike of Matt Simko for appointing
his crony as tech chair). Maybe I should have run for Parliamentarian. I
bought a simplified version of Robert's Rules the other night, but I think I
posted that already. Anyway, today I drove Kyle to Best Buy so he could buy a
really cheap CD-ROM burner, then we came back here so he could connect to the
net. Anyway, we discovered that my driver's license doesn't have the "Under 18
until" thing, when it should. This explains why I had that long argument with
Mary. Weird. Anyway, I've been working on Key Club stuff again. Tomorrow, I
have that stupid appointment, then I'm going to my sister Aimee's. The summer
is rapidly running out. Darn. Last night, I got to Part Three of Goldfinger. I
love Bond novels. They're so much better than the movies. Apparently, my text
ad was displayed 57411 times already, but garnered only 14 clicks. That, it
tells me, is a CTR (click-thru ratio) of 0.02%. BTW, Kyle knows about SamAMac,
and doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Interesting. I'm considering a
format change for Black Sheep Airlines, and perhaps even a title change. My
ever more interesting life presses onward!
Wow, summer is going by fast. I have all of this stuff for Key Club and school
to take care of. I have the Positive Party, the Board Meeting, committee
chairs, and the baseball game. Oh well. I spent awhile up at my sister's
today, and I just did my part to keep Quizilla going by running a text ad for
SamAMac on their site. Cool, eh? Entrepreneurship, ho!
Well, let's see. What has happened today? Not a whole lot. I got up, put a
bookshelf together, watched part of Alien Resurrection on TV, and cleaned
the gutters. I also got an email from Allison, our wonderful LTG, with more
information about the K-Family project. We're all going to the Kane County
Cougars game on August 18th, free of charge to us. Coolness. Anyway, I've been
working on an email to the board about that and a lot of other stuff. We have
so much to do and so little time. I ran out last night to pick up a copy of
Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised, but it turns out it's a big, thick
book that cost $17, so I picked up Robert's Rules in Plain English for
$6.95. As you can see, I'm planning on bringing just a little formality to
board meetings. I think we need to make formal decisions, so that things will
actually get done. Anyway, I read through the whole thing last night. I've
gotten pretty far in Twelfth Night, but I have to catch up with my stupid
journal. Otherwise, my life is peachy. Apparently, someone visited
samamac.com, because they asked some questions of my [Q]Box. (S)he didn't
order any services, though. At least (s)he thought the site was cool.
Well, I'm sitting in front of my computer, typing away, so obviously it's
working again. But I don't really know what I did to fix it. Oh well. Knock on
wood and count your blessings, I guess. Went to yet another concert. I have
all sorts of Key Club stuff to do, lots of summer homework left (but at least
I've started!) and a trip to Boston and working registration to squeeze in.
All in all, though, I think that this has been a fairly productive summer. I
got my business started (though I've yet to gross dollar one), went to
International Convention, and just this week attended a seminar at the Federal
Reserve that made me regret ever wondering exactly what the Fed did. Traveling
downtown on a weekday was fun, though. I like the city. It's ironic, but I
feel safer crossing the street in the city than in the suburbs. For one thing,
there's always a mob of people crossing with you, at least during the day.
Plus, drivers seem to realize that there are creatures called pedestrians, and
that they have the right of way. In the suburbs, I guess that people might
realize this too, but I frankly don't trust them to be looking for
pedestrians, because they're awfully scarce out here. More than that though, I
love the tall buildings and impressive architecture, especially in the
Financial District. Those three buildings with Greek facades at LaSalle and
Jackson make you understand why they call it "The City of Big Shoulders." But
I feel I can write off any wasted time as relaxation, and believe me, I'm
going to need it. I've signed up for a slow and painful death from overwork
next year, and I might just lose it. At least next summer, I won't have any
homework.
Well, today was interesting. We were expected to make "presentations" at Fed
Camp, even though many of the people there had never even taken an economics
course. It got out early. Actually, they let us out for our scheduled break,
and everybody else from Willowbrook left, but I stayed. It didn't last that
long after that, but I had to run to catch the 2:40 train. The rest of the
gang was surprised to see me. Anyway, I got home, and I managed to get the
computer started, though I'm not quite sure how. I took out the ATX form card,
so I have no mouse. At least I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow, so I can
stay up late and troubleshoot. Right now though, I'm working on backing up all
of my files. Ah, the wonderful world of computing...
*but were afraid to ask
Guess where I went today. That's right! I went downtown to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to learn about...the Federal Reserve System. Man, it was boring. I have to go again tomorrow.
I rode the train there and back. This afternoon I walked home from the train
station, 3.5 miles, wearing a suit, of course. Somebody apparently told my
computer, since it decided to not start. I turned it off and decided to do
some work under the hood that I had been meaning to do anyway, and here I am,
a few hours later, with none of the stuff (well, I just called Kyle, that's
one thing down) that I had planned to do today done. I have to do a Level 1
Diagnostic (that's Trekkie for: "Make sure everything still works"), and I am
really tired. I say, the Federal Reserve should be like a Variable Phase
Inducer. Nobody knows what it is or how it works, but nobody really cares,
either.
As you can see, I have finally added a comment link to my blog. Whoa, I think
60 Minutes is on.
I realized that I hadn't posted my AP scores, and I looked to see if anyone else had. Well, Jen, you just know you made some horrible error on one of those forms, and now they have to sort it out. Speaking of errors, I noticed that the usual comment links were nowhere to be found, and IE told me there's a Javascript error. Guess it's time to call Mary, eh?
But I digress. I was going to post my AP scores for all the world to see:
American History
5
English Composition
4
Statistics
5
I know, it seems like I'm gloating, but hey, what are AP scores for?
Well, I just installed the new Google Toolbar with BlogThis! built in. It has a popup blocker too! Rock on!
I just got home at last. I have my certificate from the county. I am now the proud owner of SamAMac Communications Company. I'm adding a link from my blog so that Google will index it.
Well, I'm home at last, and I have much work to do. Later!
I went out to check the far light. It's not getting any current. I just
disconnected the photocell, so the lights should remain on past dawn. I'll
figure it out tomorrow.
Well, today was fun. First thing, I replaced all of the Harveys' outdoor
lighting. Then I spent some time trimming the bushes with a hedge trimmer.
Living in Brandywine where all the landscaping is done by the maintenance guys
in their shiny white trucks makes me all too eager to wield electric hedge
trimmers. Then I got to see Pirates of the Caribbean. It was great, certainly
a lot better than The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Next on my list of
movies to see is Johnny English. C'mon, "Bean meets Bond?" It has to be good.
For those of you who care about this sort of thing, you should know that Rowan
Atkinson had a role as a serious character (silly, but serious) in Never Say
Never Again, the unofficial Bond movie with Sean Connery. That one was even
dumber than The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Anyway, when we got back
from the movie, two of the lights weren't working. I spent about an hour
working on one of them, but to no avail. I still might go out tonight and see
if I can get the other working. Argy!
Hello, everybody! Guess where I am? I'm at the Harveys', up in Woodstock. They have broadband internet access. Woodstock doesn't seem like the middle of nowhere as long as you can get a cable modem.
Anyway, I haven't posted in a while, so I'm taking this opportunity. Last night, I dreamt I was at International Convention again. Actually, that's where I thought I was, but none of it was anything like Convention. The dream seemed to go on forever too. Anyway, at one point I walked up to this girl I didn't know and struck up a conversation. You would think at this point I would realize I'm dreaming, but no. I never realize I'm dreaming while I'm dreaming. Then later I was at the hotel waiting for the elevator. Elizabeth Genovise was there, even though she wasn't really at Convention. I don't think she was ever in Key Club, either. Sometime around there I woke up and saw polka dots on the walls, and I was like, "Where the heck am I?" Then I remembered that I had spent the night at the Harveys'. So that was my dream. Kinda makes you glad I don't dream as much as Jen seems to, huh?
I was just catching up on other people's blogs tonight. All I have to say is, isn't it eerie how accurate Quizilla quizzes can be? Also, I'm going to look into getting a comment thingy for my blog.
Speaking of blogs, guess what they're coming out with now? The Google Toolbar with BlogThis! built right in! This is great, because I use BlogThis! most of the time, and I also use the Google Toolbar all the time. Rock on!
I got to see The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen tonight. It was all right. Let me put it this way: See a matinee or watch it on HBO, but don't pay full price, rent, or buy it. It's not my idea of a watch-over-and-over kind of movie. It was entertaining though.
Got my AP scores today. I got a 5 on US History, a 4 on English Composition, and a 5 on Statistics. How about them apples?
Well, it's after 11 already. I guess I'd better sign off. I have some more
updating to do, both to this and to Black Sheep Airlines, when I get home.
Good night!
It turns out that the alltooflat.com guys wrote a Pi Song. And I finally
got the "all too flat" thing, and I was ROFL. This is my new favorite site.
I'm considering a membership.
Just the kind of thing that makes you proud to be an American.

You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves
your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling
he/she is dreaming. Quite effective; the kiss
that never lessens and always blows your
partner away like the first time.

Well, today has been a long and interesting day. I got the signs for the
parade from my sister and got them to Renee. Jen and Brenda were at Renee's
house, talking to somebody on the phone. I didn't ask questions. I'm going to
International convention tomorrow, so I have to get all ready tonight. I'm
nervous but excited. It's too bad I don't have anybody from my home club
going. Sucks actually. Oh well, rumor has it that Maureen and Anna will be
attending the concurrent Circle K convention, so I hope I'll get to see them
at some point. Mary IMed me tonight to rant about Blogger again, give me the
URL of her new blog (I've updated the link) and tell me to "get at least one
number." The guy at interAdvantage got back to me, and my account with them is
all set. I just have to send them the money, which I'll do as soon as I can
confirm my bank account with stupid PayPal. My notice will be running in the
Lombardian and VP Review this Wednesday (go out and get yourself a piece of
history, I'm finally starting my own business). Other than that, I don't think
I have anything to say. I'm sure I'll have plenty once I get back from
Convention. Ciao!
