Board meeting went all right. Tended to skew into tangents and took two hours, but it was fun. Maybe I should start posting board minutes on wbkeyclub.org too. Hmmm....anyway, Jen had a humorous account of it in her blog. After the board meeting I went to my bank and the grocery store and I didn't get home till 10. I typed the minutes, printed out the Duties of Club Officers bulletin for tomorrow, and also updated the committee directive sheets for March 6. I'll have to post them on the site tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day before a 4-day weekend. Yay. Maybe I'll finally be able to get some work done. Well, I really need to get some sleep, so I can beat myself up again tomorrow (I'm in a saturnine mood tonight). Note to self: make to-do list tonight/tomorrow. Live long and prosper.

Greetings! I haven't posted in a couple of days. Yesterday in Spanish, Brian asked me if I was the valedictorian. I calmly informed him that:

  1. It's only our junior year,

  2. We have percentiles, not rank, so there will be no valedictorian, and

  3. I don't know which percentile I'm in.

Brian then asked Josie if she was valedictorian. A puzzled "no" was her reply. Then Kirby asked if I had ever not gotten an A for a semester grade. Recalling my B in Spanish last year, I answered, "Yes." At this point, Mr. I (the Mr. I that gave me the B) starts snickering. I turn around, look at him, and almost say, "NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY!!!" Thankfully, I didn't. But he still gloated about being the "GPA-buster." That's why his tenure needs to be revoked.

Today went well. No homework tonight, and no school Friday! There's a Key Club board meeting tonight that I'm going to get ready for soon. Life is good.

Finished A Farewell to Arms. I guess Hemingway kind of had a point. War sucks. But he could have stated his point in two words. Oh well. Haven't heard from Jen, so I guess there wasn't a board meeting. Mary apparently didn't like my inquiry about her template. Oh well.

Well, Jen never called, so I guess there's no board meeting. I'm nearly done with A Farewell to Arms. It's still boring. I don't really feel like starting my homework, so I guess I'll watch some movies, finish the book, and go to bed. Sigh...at least it's another short week. Au revoir.

Well, today was the day of the math team regional competition. Willowbrook was beat out, largely by private schools, but Kevin placed in the Algebra II contest. We didn't do that badly overall. Tonight I have to work on A Farewell to Arms, and at some point there will be a Key Club board meeting. Jen also has expressed interest in seeing Gods and Generals, but I'm not sure that would fit in tonight. Fortunately, next weekend provides twice the opportunity. I also should get some work done on the Spanish country project. Evil incarnate!

BTW, got my ACT score today. I got a 32 composite, which makes me happy. It's weird. I got, let's see...a 35 in reading, 32 in math, 31 in English, and a 28 in science reasoning. I should have done much better in science, but it's the last test and I was tired. Like I said, it's a practice. It's still good enough to get me in just about anywhere, though.

Today was an OK day. I felt horrible last night, and ended up going to sleep only to get up at 2 AM and work on a silly history project, which took about an hour, and then we spent so much time discussing current events in History that we didn't need them until Monday. Argh! Jen's blog indicates that she is bored, and I would gladly offer to take her to see Gods and Generals (that is, if she would want to see that movie, I don't know). It opens today and I really want to see it, but I have this math competition tomorrow and I'm really exhausted after this long week, so I'm staying in tonight. I have one hour to complete my Statement of Eligiblity for Key Club Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Secretary and get it in the mail. This weekend, I have to finish reading A Farewell to Arms, journal about the connections, and come up with some kind of questionaire to introduce the book. Our group has the honor of going first thing Monday. If you are under the impression that Hemingway was in any way a competent author, you, my friend, are horribly mistaken. Fitzgerald, good. Orwell, very good. But Hemingway writes books with undefined characters and no plot. That is simply inexcusable.

Hello. I don't have much time to post tonight (do I ever?). Conference (yes, it was conference, not regionals) went well. We won one, lost one, and didn't score enough points to get the wildcard spot. It was a lot of fun, though. Saturday I'm going to regionals for Willowbrook's nonexistent math team. My blog appeared to be down earlier, along with some others, it seemed. I got it back up, though. I've added Jen to my list. Both Jen and Mary are secretive about the URLs, so I guess I'm being sneaky. Although as far as I know, they're the only ones that read this. No Key Club meeting today. I've added a message board to the Key Club site. I have to change the color scheme, though.

Well, I have lots of work to do and lots of sleep to get. I'll post again tomorrow, probably.

P.S. Read my poem in Spanish today. It went well. People laughed. I wore a fedora and sunglasses. Life is good (almost).

I just showed the poem to Chris. He called it "disturbing." Here it is in English for all you monolinguists:

Maverick is his name
and how interesting is this man.
He has a very big car
and he lives with his cat and mother.

One day, the guy wrote
a spanish essay.
A story, or so it seemed to me
about a cat in a tree.

Mr. Tinkles was what he was called
by a girl and her father.
But my paper was written
in which I killed the kitten.

But Mr. Tinkles lives
in my mind and heart.
And I don't sleep at night
because I love the rascal.

That cat haunts me
and I cry when it rains,
because I know above all
that Mr. Tinkles is in a tree.

I don't have that much time to post. I have to get to bed early tonight so that I can stay awake to do my homework tomorrow night, after the scholastic bowl meet. I believe it's regionals tomorrow, and it might be late before we get back. Thankfully, my homework is light tonight. I just finished statistics (two-sample t tests!) and I have to finish everything else quickly. I had to write a poem for my spanish class yesterday. Here it is (Maverick is a friend of mine named Chris):

I may yet edit it tonight. Well, I'll try to post tomorrow, but I probably won't get the opportunity.

Hello. I just got back from my sister's house. I'm talking to Mary. No fascinating revelations tonight. Dang, it's 10:30 already. Tomorrow I have to finish all my homework, in addition to a million other things. Aw shucks! Apparently, the Key Club trip to Lexington did not go well. That reminds me, I should work on the Key Club site. Sorry, another boring post tonight. But my life is boring. Sigh...well, here's something. Jen asked me to Turnabout. That good enough?

Here's a more interesting thing about my life:

The other day, I was sitting at lunch listening to a fascinating conversation between some of my friends. I won't bore you with the details, but at one point my friend Mary turned and asked me if I thought a certain Bonnie was attractive. I was struck immediately by the irony. No one could have known, but I have had a crush on Bonnie for years. So of course I responded with an authoritative yes. Mary then stated that she had lost all faith in me.

There it is, a fascinating epoch from my life.

I went to see the school play, Once Upon a Mattress, tonight. It was good. Now I'm listening to Star Trek Rhapsody.

My dad managed to rent a PT Cruiser for the weekend. That is a cool car. Too bad I can't drive it because it's a rental.

Thank goodness for three day weekends. I have to write an essay based on observation of my classmates, but I didn't have much opportunity to observe. So I'm going to take what little I saw, mix it with some net research and personal conjecture, and call it fudge.

Good night all. I think I'll go watch some MacGyver now. Darn! I forgot to watch it today. Darn, darn, darn! There's a MacGyver (2004) entry in the IMDB. I assumed it was another movie, but a friend told me they're making a new "hip" MacGyver. Evil! No one but Richard Dean Anderson himself has a right to play MacGyver. At least last night's Stargate was good.

Please email me if you have an opinion. I'd love to hear from you.

Good night again.

Well, this sucks. For AP American History, we have to read this stupid book by a Marxist historian. It wasn't so bad before, but every chapter is about the same thing: how those evil capitalists oppressed the masses. I'm all for egalitarianism, but it gets kind of old by the 10th chapter. It's like, "This is America, stupid! That's the way it is!" For crying out loud, haven't those stupid socialists figured it out yet? There will always be class distinctions in society. These Marxists need to read more Vonnegut. I have to read yet another 40-page chapter tonight, besides writing my dumb reflection on the LAST chapter. I also have some other stuff to finish for that class. Sheesh. Well, hopefully I can finish everything before MacGyver.

Got the report for January mailed. Everything else is peachy. I'm taking the American High School Math Exam tomorrow(yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy). I took the ACT as a practice on Saturday. I was tired, and I had trouble finishing. Oh well. It's a practice. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Au revoir.

OK, so here I am, sitting in my semi-clean office, listening to obscure Beatles songs (it's a Beatles "Fourplay" weekend on Magic 104.3). Mary and Jen are away at Model UN, which kind of sucks, since I need Jen to sign the January report so I can mail it by tomorrow. I have to get it signed and in the mail tomorrow. It's funny, I've made it a point of honor that I get it in the mail a few days early each month, but this month it will be close. Well, I'm doing this because I don't feel like starting my homework. Hmm, we have next Monday off. Rock on! I'm also trying to find a programming project to pique my interest. Ah! I need to set Max(SamAMac2, 192.168.1.4) up on his new desk. Also, I was interested in learning more about BIND and DNS. That's what I'll do! Ha ha ha!

Howdy! It's Friday! Rock on! Well, I've been neglecting by blog (again), so I thought I'd try and keep it up from now on. Right! Today was good. I was thinking of finding a way to merge my Journal program with my blog (not that I use Journal all that often either). I'm just so busy. Tonight is another episode of Stargate. It looks kind of interesting. Well, I have a myriad of things to do, but I'll try to post again with something useful by the end of the day. Bye!
